From Yellow Farmhouse Winery

The Yellow Farmhouse will open on Friday nights from 6 to 9pm beginning Friday, July 30, and each Friday through September.

Our first Friday, July 30 features "Friday Night at the Movies" at the Yellow Farmhouse. We'll be showing "Bottle Shock" with Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman, the true story of how the Americans trounced the French in the 1976 tasting of American vs. French wines and turned the wine world upside down.

"A sleeper of a movie that can't help but make you feel good about American wine."

Admission is free, and picnic baskets are welcome.

In addition, the Yellow Farmhouse will offer popcorn, cheeses, sausages, and snacks, and by special arrangement with the Piazza Deli we'll offer piping hot pizzas and, of course, wine, beer, and soft drinks.

Fridays thereafter will feature live music, snacks, and pizza.

Can you think of a better way to spend a summer Friday night - up under the stars beneath the big pecan trees in the Wine Garden with a good movie or some live music - and the best pizza, stromboli, and munchies in town?

Wine Garden opens at 6pm. On movie nights movie starts at 8pm. So, come as you are.

Re-elect Sheriff Tom Neer

Tom Neer in Uniform

Tom Neer has been with the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department for 36 years. During this time he has worked his way through all levels of the department, from entry level patrol officer to his current position as Sheriff.
Sheriff Neer did not sit idle through his career. When Management and Specialized training became available, he acquired it. He was always trying to improve his own skills to help others achieve theirs.
When it was seen that the department must prepare for situations that could occur in St. Charles County as seen in other parts of the country, Tom Neer reacted. He became the first bomb technician and commanded the unit. When it was seen that SWAT teams were becoming a critical necessity for law enforcement agencies, he requested training and later became the commander.
He has seen and been a part of the progress of the department. St. Charles County is a border county of St. Louis. Close proximity to an ever expanding metro area requires constant evaluation of law enforcement needs. Weekly meetings with local municipal police chiefs and periodic meetings with other law enforcement related entities ensures that public safety remains the highest priority. He is a member of numerous Boards that oversee various law enforcement functions, i.e. Major Case Squad, Metro Air Support, St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force, Regional Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Groups, and etc.
The Sheriff's job is not to drive around the county and stop cars, even though he can. His job is to manage the department, maintain a safe and productive work environment, set and maintain high ethical standards, inspire employees to achieve their highest potential, stay abreast of the latest criminal trends and create ways to combat it. His duties are many, including financial management of department budgets, ensure that all statutory mandated laws are upheld, address public concerns, oversee the daily operations of all aspects of the Sheriff's Department, and etc.
His work ethic and abilities resulted in his appointment to interim sheriff twice when those two elected Sheriff's opted for career changes prior to completing their terms. Tom Neer sought election in 2006 and was successful in his efforts. As the current Sheriff he is now running for re-election and asks for your support.
